Current statistics and studies show there's a serious drop-off in funding for programs once students reach middle and high school -- the teen years, exactly the time when young people need the most attention and opportunity, when there is constant pressure to get involved in things which might negatively affect the rest of their lives.

The Flourish Foundation is a not-for-profit private philanthropic organization begun as a response to this lack of funding. Since 2005, the foundation's work has benefited over 7,000 young people and community members in the Los Angeles area. In that time, Founder Monica Rosenthal, Executive Director Kevin Kane, and Program Director Jackie Lopez have worked to create a network of artists, educators, instructors, and administrators whose goal is to heal and transform individuals, schools, and communities through the power of arts education - with the idea that access for all is imperative.

Therefore, the foundation's mission is to empower middle, high school, and college aged students in the Los Angeles area by supporting an assortment of arts and educational projects and programs that promote responsibility, self-esteem, creativity, academic competitiveness and proficiency. Financial support is available in the form of scholarships, community arts grants, and school site grants.
