Any Dream Will Do
Theatre Workshop's first production. Presented in December, 1995.

In July, 1995, Theatre Workshop begins with eleven students and very little idea about how the class will function. By December, at the end of TWs first semester, approximately 30 students participate in this (comparatively) low-scale, low-budget production. The show is presented in little theater style on the stage, with the audience seated on platforms set up in the orchestra pit. The show consists of 13 pieces (including 4 dances, with a few sketches, scenes and songs) and is only one act long. The theme is dreams. Finding a goal and a wish... and making them come true in the future. Highlights include: "Castle on a Cloud" from the Broadway show Les Miserables; "For Our Grandmothers" 5 girls memories of their grandmothers; "Bei Mir Bist du Schon" TWs first experiment with partner dancing; and "State of Independence" a full cast finale dance, using sign language.

In some ways, every show to follow will have a similar theme. That is: with hard work, discipline and perseverance, Theatre Workshop students are capable of overcoming obstacles and achieving great things Thats our dream.
